Let’s catch up!

Here, we learned our most valuable lesson yet.

We needed to SLOW. DOWN. We had a jam packed summer in Alaska, and we really lived it up there. So much so that we found ourselves burnt out and took a couple weeks to just rest and relax. Which we did in West Vancouver at Ambleside Beach where we enjoyed watching the ships navigate their way into Vancouver and saw beautiful West Coast Sunsets every night.

After a (thankfully) uneventful border crossing back into the US, we made our way down the Washington Coast and spent about a week in Seattle visiting some friends Meghan went to high school with and doing some touristy things. We ate some good food, and got absolutely grossed out by the Gum Wall (IYKYK)

After getting our fill of city life, we made our way to Mount Rainier National Park, enjoyed some beautiful free camping, and some gorgeous views of the lower 48’s largest active volcano.

Olympic Peninsula

Of all the places we’ve been so far, there’s something special about the Olympic Peninsula that is leaving us wanting to go back already. We spent a few weeks exploring all over, from Olympic National Park, to camping with fellow nomad friends, to jumping in the bluest lakes, and seeing sunset at the northwestern-most point of the US, to giant moss covered trees, the Olympic Peninsula is truly one of the most beautiful places we’ve been and we wish we had more time here.

OREGON

Once we got to Oregon, the first thing we did was celebrate Matt’s 30th birthday in Astoria with some fellow nomad friends. Sea lions, Thai food, and craft beer was the way to do it!

We explored the coast more, saw a shipwreck, did a house sit just outside Portland for an adorable Labradoodle puppy, ate some unique ice cream flavors (blue cheese and pear anyone?) and worked on all of our ongoing projects and planned for our next great adventure we have coming up!

1 Million Mile Update

Driving from Alaska to Oregon put on A LOT of miles. Most of it was driving with a few hikes sprinkled in.

32,199.9 miles down, 967,800.1 to go!

Our PNW Video Series

Did you know people from the PNW don’t say “Pee-En-Double-You”? We didn’t either but thanks to some of our subscribers who called us out, we appropriately call it “Pacific Northwest” now. But tbh, we miss saying “PNW”, so if it slips, oops.

Anyways, we’ve got a whole lineup of videos from our time in Washington and Oregon, check ‘em out when you get the chance!

What’s Next?

Travel: We have two HUGE trips planned in the coming weeks. One of them is a cross-country TRAIN RIDE back east to visit family for a couple weeks, then we are FLYING somewhere warm and going to test Matt’s Spanish speaking skills. Those of you who were on our YouTube Live for Matt’s 30th birthday know where we’re headed. The rest of you will find out soon ;)

Content: We will be working on updating our website to include more travel resources! We’re working on a gallery section for our website where you’ll be able to see the full, hi-res images of all of Matt’s greatest photos. We also want to start GOING LIVE more regularly to just hang out, so keep an eye out for that!
